There's something about being seventeen that seems a bit older than being sixteen. Not only are you actually one year older, seventeen-year-olds are expected to be more responsible. They should be more mature. You're not the "sweet sixteen" anymore and hopefully you have things a little more figured out than you used to. Maybe when I tell people I'm seventeen they won't think I'm so young and innocent. Not that I want to be evil or anything -- I just don't want people to think I'm oblivious to the world and what's going on around me.
Last night I watched the "Sixteen Going On Seventeen" clip from the Sound of Music just because and today I sit in a pile of homework. I'm pretty sure that no matter how much I study there's always more studying to do. It's probably part of being seventeen (so much for being excited about that).
Here's a picture of me, surrounded by school (most of it is hiding behind me). Ignore the oatmeal can. It's part of the 3D Anatomy Model I'm supposed to make.

Oh, dear. . .17-year-olds must be mature. Remind me to skip my birthday. ;) Although apparently, I've been told I am very lady-like by random people, which always make me bust out laughing in a very un-ladylike manner. :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! Too bad about the homework. But maybe doing extra homework will make you feel smarter as well as older? I don't know. I always feel particularly happy when I finally finish the science module I've put off for weeks.
Happy birthday, hope you work through that pile of home work. xo
ReplyDeleteI've been 17 for a full seven months so I know how you feel. All the homework can get so overwhelming. (which I am currently am right now with studying for the ACT test.) But that's just the way life is. Hope you had a wonderful birthday! XO, Em.
ReplyDeleteI gotta say, it's weird to have read this blog for so long and remember that you're not super old yet. ;) Don't worry so much about maturity - it's something you already have in spades. Happy birthday, Kendra!
